Frankfurt Book Fair 2010

NUP will be once again venturing to the Frankfurt Book Fair on 6th-10th October 2010!

We visit the most prominent events each year such as London Book Fair and Frankfurt of course. We have even ventured all the way to the Tokyo Book Fair and Denver, Colorado!!!!!

Frankfurt Book Fair is steeped in history, as it dates back to the era of the invention of movable type in the 15th Century. The book fair was rebooted in 1949, when 205 German exhibitors came together for the first book fair after the war and has grown ever since. In 2008 the fair celebrated its 60 years anniversary.

Currently Frankfurt plays host to more than 7,300 exhibitors from 100 countries every year and has 299,000 visitors. Frankfurt is the largest book fair in the world, so it's not surprising that a lot of the industry attend. It's hard to grasp just how many business deals are made, how much new technologies are discovered and just how much the industry can change in those few shorts days, but it happens every year!!!! This article particularly highlights how the book fair is helping publishers bridge the gap between print and electronic information through the use of new technologies and services.

The fair has also been known to be the place where companies have announced the launch of their new products or software: like in the case of Google Editions at the 61st Frankfurt Book Fair, which had the potential to change the entire publishing industry.
